What do I do if the weather isn't great?

While Esperance is known for its outdoor attractions, there are still plenty of things to do in bad weather. You can visit the Esperance Museum to learn about local history, including Skylab space debris, or explore local art at Cindy Poole Glass Gallery and the Cannery Arts Centre. For something more relaxed, stop by Bread Local for fresh baked goods and coffee or enjoy cafes and dining around town. You can also take a scenic drive along Great Ocean Drive with many lookouts accessible from your car, catch a movie, browse local shops, or relax at your accommodation. For a unique experience, consider a scenic flight over the Recherche Archipelago and Lake Hillier.

Where are you located?

We are located approximately 12kms from the main roundabout in Esperance. The easiest way is to search Merivale Road and we are 5.8km down Merivale Road on the left at roadside number 587. If you reach Stonehenge you have gone too far. We are on the way to Cape Le Grand National Park and Lucky Bay.

What is there to do in Esperance?

Esperance is best known for its stunning natural scenery, especially its white-sand beaches and turquoise waters. Visitors can explore Cape Le Grand National Park, home to famous spots like Lucky Bay where kangaroos relax on the beach. The scenic Great Ocean Drive offers a coastal loop with lookouts, beaches, and photo opportunities. Outdoor activities include hiking Frenchman Peak, snorkelling, fishing, and surfing, while boat or ferry trips to Woody Island provide wildlife encounters and island exploration. For a unique experience, visitors can take a scenic flight to see Lake Hillier. In town, you can enjoy the foreshore, local markets, cafes, and the museum.

Are you child friendly?

Box Hill has been designed as a private getaway for adults only. If you have a newborn baby and wish to stay, please contact us directly.

Are you pet friendly?

Unfortunately not. With respect to our neighbours who run livestock and the native animals on the property, we do not allow pets. We can suggest local pet sitters in Esperance if needed.

Do you have a minimum night stay?

Yes, we have a 2 night minimum stay, with a 3 night minimum for long weekends and peak season.

How to find us

From Esperance townsite, head East towards Fisheries road to Merivale Road. Drive down Merivale Road 5.8km and you will see the entrance on the left.

Green number road-side sign is 587.

Please be aware that Merivale Road is known for a high number of kangaroos, particularly around dusk and dawn. If you are unfamiliar with driving on rural roads, we strongly recommend planning your arrival during daylight hours, preferably well before dusk, to ensure a safer journey
